THE LATEST FROM THE RANCHO

Monday, December 29, 2003

It's nice that you read the article (well, Elia, actually) the day of
my birthday! I'm glad you like it, and of course, you can post it in the
Rancho website. Please make sure the guy at the Beatnik gets one copy, as I told you, without him this wouldn't have happened. Please, give my regards to him and tell him the Beatnik is mentioned in the article. Also, say hello to Dave and Tony, hope they like it too. You know, this is the best thing I've experienced thanks to my job as a journalist. Being able to go to LA (though for other reasons) and then rent a car and go to the desert and find the Rancho and ... discover that magic place. I will never forget that. I can't wait to go back there again someday.

PARENTAL APPROVAL

Ted, We are happy for all of you to see the successful operations continuing. We know it took an awful lot of blood ,sweat, tears (and a little luck) to get this far, and that you will continue to grow. I am sure Fred D. is proud. Keep the water going on the Cottonwood.
Charles and Jo.

charles & jo-

elia and i instigated a little rancho feast last night for outrage, the
band from japan. it was pretty magical. one of the guys asked me if fred
is always there. i had to think for a minute. then i said that i was
very sure he was there right then. it was just the kind of party he
would love. doug, meredith, tony, dana, elia, pirozzi, veronica (plus new friends john lee and rob) and i had a great time showing the japanese what dinner at the rancho is all about. they returned the favor by preparing the salmon with miso! (and promising to send all their friends to record...explaining that studio rates are so high in japan that they could actually fly to the rancho and record for about the same amount).

THIS JUST IN FROM OUR PODNER, DEAN CHAMBERLAIN:

hey kids >

It's true - the warner bros. code blue LP is back and available on CD at Rhino Handmade - Rhino Records' online only record label.

Click the link above, then scroll down the page for sample song clips and CHECK OUT THE (12!!) BONUS TRACKS!!

I know 20$ is serious coin for some of us, but they've done a sweet job on the package and booklet (24 pages!!) and though I love my vinyl, the CD sounds pretty fine. The live stuff kicks (Mabuhay Gardens '78) and so do most of the demos. Be the first on yr block.

Lyrics, photos, bios and liner notes are online at:

www.code-blue.us

And if you haven't had enough DC, check out ping magazine for new video clips and photos.

Don't be a stranger & FTGF,

d.

(HOW COULD WE EVER GET ENOUGH OF DC!!!?? ROCK FORTHLY...it was fun bumping into dean, as well as cathy cooper, schneebie, jacobin, petra, kevin alternator, etc. when elia, pirozzi, debbie winski, edgar and i went to see dengue fever at the el rey the other night...)
